Grassroots Efforts Pay Off

A big hand to Hardy Miller and the No on R folks, who pointed out the key flaws in Measure R and helped voters see past its flowery ballot language. ... We hope to work with them in the future to advocate for a sensible new library (Lafayette's planned library is bigger, yet cheaper) without a multi-level garage. ...

Thanks for the kudos Adriel but the defeat of Measure R was not just accomplished by me. Obviously 9,000+ other voters took the time to express their views at the ballot box on the poorly planned and debt financed mega-library and parking garage that the City put before them. Now it is time for everyone to join forces to get a better and smaller version of a new downtown library on its way to completion as soon as possible. By workinh together we can protect Civic Park, erect a reasonably sized library and also protect the residential neighborhood near the park and library.
